Pavillon de Leoville Poyferre  2014.  Saint Julien, Bordeaux.

Chateau Fermiere du Chateau Leoville Poyferre.

Around 34 pounds or 70 Aussie Dollars

This wine is delicious and so easy to drink, maybe too easy as my head attested the next day. It’s the second wine of the estate made with all the same principles of the first which means great quality at a really good price. The Saint Julian area has no Premier Cru or First Growth wines only Second growths or (Deuxiemes cru) which Leoville-Poyferre is one. I could delve further into the rich history of Saint Julien but…. for the average wine drinker these wines give a glimpse of what the one percenters are drinking, because not many can afford a $1700 bottle of first growth Bordeaux!

The 2014 was a delicious wine of gentle tannins, black fruits and nice acid.  Very easy to drink and a steal at the price.  Better on the second day if you can save it.

12.5% Alc Vol

Cabernet Sauvignon 61% Merlot 27% Petit Verdot 8% Cabernet Franc 4%

Enjoy!
